December 2004 - Two sell-out Messiahs at St John's, Smith Square

Polyphony and Stephen Layton gave two sell-out performances of Handel's Messiah at St John's, Smith Square in December.

'Polyphony were on their usual top form', with Stephen Layton imparting 'an enormous power and muscular energy to the music' according to Early Music Review

'I have not heard better choral singing than this. Polyphony, directed with a clear sense of balance and forward momentum by Layton, was the rock and sonic architecture upon which everything and everyone hung.' (Classicalsource.com)
